GET/repositories/{repo_id}/anchors
List a repository's code anchors, optionally for one file and one ref
list_repo_anchors
issue:read
A token needs theissue:readscope: Read work items and their settingsGranted bymcp_agent,mcp_agent_write,read_api,read_repository,write_api,write_repository.Every operation this scope unlocksFiltered across resources
x-gitmoap-isolation: {"kind":"cross_resource_filtered"}
Returns the repository's anchors, each with its work item's number, type, title and status, for
showing them beside the code. path narrows to one file, and ref shows where the anchors fall
on another branch, tag or commit instead of the default branch. Anchors whose work items you
cannot see are left out. Anyone who can see the repository's work items may call it — on a
public repository, without signing in.
Parameters
Path
- repo_idRepositoryId (string · uuid)Repository ID
Query
- pathstringoptionalOnly the anchors on this file — the code browser's gutter query
- refstringoptionalShow where the anchors fall on this branch, tag or commit instead of the default branch. Nothing is saved
Responses
200The anchors, each carrying enough of its work item to render a gutter markerapplication/json
issueAnchorIssueSummary or nulloptionalThe work item's number, type, title and status. Absent briefly after the work item is deleted, until its anchors are removed.
- The AnchorIssueSummary schema
- iidIssueId (integer · int64)
- scope_idstringThe id of the group or repository the work item lives in.
- scope_typeScopeTypegrouprepositoryWhether the work item lives in a group or a repository. With
scope_idandiidit is the item's current address — which need not be the repository the anchor is in: an item that moves keeps its anchors where the code is. - status_categoryStatusCategorytriagetodoin_progressin_reviewblockeddonecancelledThe fixed category behind a status. A status also has a name, which the team owns and may rename freely; the category is the part the platform reasons about. A team can call a status "Ready for QA" and the platform still knows it is
in_review— so a board can place it in a column, a merge can move it, and a progress rollup can count it as not done. - status_idStatusId (string)
- titleIssueTitle (string)
- uidIssueUid (string · uuid)
- work_item_typeWorkItemTypeepicstorybugtaskspikechoreincidentsub_taskThe kind of work item. The type decides where an item may live (a group or a repository), which types it may have as children, and which fields it accepts.

Error codes
- BAD_REQUESTThe request is malformed: a parameter or a body field is not a well-formed value of its type
errorErrorBody
- The ErrorBody schema
- codestringThe coarse category, tied to the status:
NOT_FOUND,CONFLICT,INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE. Every error has one; the API reference's error catalogue lists them all. - messagestringWhat went wrong, for a person. Written to be read, not parsed: match on

LAST_ORGANIZATION_OWNER,BRANCH_PROTECTED. The message starts with it too. Match on this when it is present, and oncodeotherwise. - required_scopestring or nulloptionalThe scope the access token was missing, on
INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE. - violationsanyoptionalPresent on the structured-validation errors (
PROVIDER_VALIDATION_FAILEDper-node,PIPELINE_VALIDATION_FAILEDDAG): a JSON array of the offending elements, so a caller can fix every one in a single round-trip. Absent (omitted) on every other error.

Error codes
- NOT_FOUNDThe resource does not exist — or exists and you cannot see it: a private resource you have no access to answers exactly as an absent one does
